Travel Theme: Close Up

An Quencheng Square’s rose garden

To the Virgins to Make Much of Time

by Robert Herrick
Gather ye rose-buds while ye may,
Old Time is still a-flying:
And this same flower that smiles today,
Tomorrow will be dying.

The glorious lamp of heaven, the Sun,
The higher he’s a-getting
The sooner will his race be run,
And nearer he’s to setting.

That age is best which is the first,
When youth and blood are warmer;
But being spent, the worse, and worst
Times, still succeed the former.

Then be not coy, but use your time;
And while ye may, go marry:
For having lost but once your prime,
You may for ever tarry.

March Theme Day: People on the Street

Get it while it's hot
Get it while it’s hot

City Daily Photo is kicking off March with the theme “People in the Street.” In my neighborhood there are some delightful people who work on the street. It can’t be easy in all kinds of weather to sell fruit, veggies, hot meals or offer to fix shoes or mend clothes. Yet they’re there, rain or shine usually with a smile.

To see more interpretations of the theme, check out City Daily Photo.

Travel Theme: Sweet

Ailsa, creator of Where’s My Back Pack?, offers a weekly blogging challenge in the form of a Travel Theme. This week’s prompt is “sweet.” So many choices, but I’ve decided on this cheese cake from the Hotel Mercure’s brunch, a favorite weekend treat.

In China there are local sweets, but I thought I’d honor their pastry chef‘s expertise.
